Tamar Campaign

The year is 3022 – Draconis Combine forces with the hired help of mercenary forces seek to take Tamar from the hands of the Lyran Commonwealth. This time, will they be successful or will it end as it did when House Kurita last attempted to invade and was ultimately defeated?

Pledge your mercenary company to fight for one of the two factions and decide the fate of Tamar.

Situated at the border of the Draconis Combine, this Lyran Commonwealth regional capital, ruled by the Duke of Tamar, has been a major hub for trade and manufacturing for centuries. The target of many raids and attempted invasions by House Kurita forces, Tamar has for the most part remained in House Steiner hands. At the height of the 3rd succession war however, Combine forces invaded once again in the hopes of making Tamar a more permanent addition to their domain.

This campaign uses, at its core, the Death From Above (DFA) Campaign System which can be easily downloaded from their site. However, I made additions and clarifications to many of the pages, rules and scenarios.

Both players take the role of commander of a mercenary company that has been contracted by the Lyran Commonwealth and the Draconis Combine (or you could simply represent a unit from one of those states instead). While we set it up for a company-strength fight (3 lances of 12 mechs total), there’s really nothing saying it can’t be more or less.

The two forces fight over a series of battles, each taking place roughly a week apart, while in between dealing with repairs, maintenance and more. The DFA system is a much more simplified, streamlined campaign that is more similar to Battletech’s Chaos Campaign system, rather than Battletech’s more involved, deep Campaign Ops + Strategic Ops systems.

The campaign, following suggestions from DFA, is meant to be relatively short. The ideal length being around 4-5 battles but this can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the overall campaign score, or changing the initial Support Points that the players start with, which is the currency used to repair and replace mechs, purchase new ones, etc.

The campaign (which I’ve included a list of two companies that we used in our first run if you want to use those units) was originally meant for a 3025 ruleset but really there’s nothing stopping you from playing this with other eras.

Full Rulebook

The full rulebook includes rules that originated from the DFA campaign system with our own adjustments and clarifications. Additionally, it includes some background lore, scenarios for the campaign and numerous data sheets that I created to manage the campaign as easily as possible.
